Cubus Verde is growing and is recruiting an Estimation and Design Engineer for our Bangalore team, working on Nordic and European building automation projects.

We are particularly interested in technically strong building automation engineers who want to develop their commercial competence. We also welcome experienced building automation estimators who want to stay close to technical solutions and take responsibility for complete estimates.

What both paths have in common is that you understand building automation. You can interpret project documentation, understand the required functions and translate them into a solution that meets the requirements. You then establish the quantities, delivery effort and risks and price the complete scope using our calculation sheet.

Estimation is the primary purpose of this role. Your technical knowledge makes the estimate credible.

The role

As Estimation and Design Engineer, you turn the full project documentation into a technically sound solution and a clear, traceable estimate.

• Interpret tender specifications, floor plans, ventilation and plumbing schematics, electrical drawings and control descriptions.
• Connect information across disciplines and identify missing or conflicting requirements.
• Define the automation solution needed to achieve the specified functions, including scope and interfaces with other contractors.
• Establish the control approach, architecture and components needed to support quantities and pricing.
• Prepare traceable quantity takeoffs covering equipment, integrations, software and installation within our scope.
• Build estimates using our calculation sheet, supplier inputs and realistic hours for design, programming, HMI, testing, commissioning, project management and documentation.
• Record assumptions, exclusions and risks, raise clarifications and compare compliant technical alternatives.
• Own estimate completeness, revisions and deadlines, and support proposal review.
• Hand over the estimate basis after award and use delivery feedback to improve future estimates.

Your technical work establishes the basis for estimation. Detailed execution design is developed with the engineering team. Final selling price and margin approval remain with the commercial lead.

What you need to bring

Practical experience in building automation and HVAC controls is a requirement for this role.

You need to understand how ventilation, heating, cooling, pumps, valves, dampers, sensors and room control fit together, including electrical interfaces and control sequences. You must be able to read documents across disciplines and explain how your solution meets the required functions. Strong Excel skills, disciplined calculation sheets and clear English communication are also required.

We value relevant experience in the following areas:

• Building automation design, application engineering, estimation or technical proposals.
• Reading floor plans, schematics, control descriptions and functional specifications.
• Quantity takeoffs, component selection and supplier enquiries.
• Estimating delivery hours, project costs and scope boundaries.
• Reviewing and marking up drawings in AutoCAD, Bluebeam or equivalent tools.
• Site work, commissioning, troubleshooting or remote commissioning.
• Retrofit projects and Nordic or European project documentation.
• Control platforms and building integration protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.

Familiarity with Beckhoff, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider or similar platforms is useful. Your understanding of functions and systems matters more than experience with a particular manufacturer.

If you already estimate building automation projects, that is valuable.

If you have built strong technical experience and want to learn how engineering decisions translate into quantities, delivery effort, risk and price, we are also interested.
